STEVE VAI, the experimental guitarist who became a transatlantic
succes in the mid 80s', was born June 1960, in New York. He started
taking guitar lessons from Joe Satriani, played with several highschool
bands, in 1978 packed up and left for Boston's Berklee School
Of Music, recorded with Frank Zappa, Alcatrazz, David Lee Roth,
Whitesnake and set the standards for rock guitar virtuosity. His
solo discography includes eleven albums stunning in diversity,
unable to be confined to one single style.
Eric Sardinas opened the show with his Texas and Delta Blues slide
guitar and the Athenians loved him.
Vai's set list in Athens included the songs: "Glorious",
"The Audience Is Listening", "Building the Church","The
Crying Machine", "For The Love of God", "Whispering
A Prayer", "Dying For Your Love", "Answers",
"Midway Creatures", "Liberty".
A complete musician, Steve Vai is also a showman who knows how
to work a stage and a crowd. As his latest album suggests, our
illusions are reflections of ourselves and whatever is real in
our own mind eventually becomes a reality in some form of life.
